Is it possible to run a network from a router DIR-600 (wireless and a extender DWL-G710 (wireless) and use the wan port at the extender as access the internet from that port ? OR is just for use to config the extender?!
-
What physical ports are on the back of this extender? It sounds like you can use the G710 as a wireless repeater which would help rebroadcast and extend the wireless SSID comming from the 600. I recommend using the 600 as the host router and use the G710 as a repeater.

Thank you for your reply, I want to use the extender as a extender for wireless, but there is a LAN port back on the extender. I use DIR-600 as a router even wireless, but IN some area at home I dont have so good signal, thats why I want to use this extender as repeater.
BUT my question WAS "can I use the lan port for connect to inet trou wireless connection ?
I use the same SSID and the same chan as the site survey found IN GWL-G710.

Yes, you should be able to use the LAN port in back. This will make the G710 an Acess Point device.

Thank you for your reply, I got connected to my DIR-600 router trou wireless, but as I found IN router its not shows up a ip nr, its connected but no ip as I gave it in extendern 192.168.0.30, gateway 192.68.0.1 as its put in router.
Connect Time MAC Address IP Address Mode Rate Signal (%)
0 days, 00:1:38 00:19:5B:0F:52:B6 N/A 11g 54 100
In DIR-600.
Dont extender need a IP ?
My settings is dhcp in rotuer and I use 192.168.0.101 to my client so its in the network, as 192.168.0.30
Should I put the extender IN THE ip range to work ?
-
If you gave the G710 the ip address of .30 then it should work then. Thats the new IP address for the G710. Thats also the new web page ip address for the G710 so you can access it's web page.

Looks like I cant access inet from the G710 any how.
I add mac adress IN router for secure reason, so no one can access my network out side.
MAC Address
00:19:5b:0f:52:b6
IP Address
192.168.0.30
Subnet Mask
255.255.255.0
Gateway
192.168.0.1
I found the wireless when I search for it at G710 and with same SSID and chan. I use a laptop cable into G710 and I let the laptop get a ip and it get one from router 192.168.0.189 via dhcp. But I can connect trou the cable either wireless anyhow!!!

If you have firewall on on the host router, you really don't need to MAC filter. MAC Filter only effects the LAN side of the router.

I have a g710 that I also want to use - A model using the latest firmware1.04 (I believe). If I take my Vista PC and connect straight to my router, everything's fine. If I use no secirity, everything's fine but if I try to use WEP or WPA and connect through the extender, I can't get to the internet. I've noticed that for some reason the IP address that get's assign, when I'm using security, get's changed to a subnet that is not in the network. For example, my subnet is192.168.1.xx and the one that gets assigned when I secure is 192.168.105.xx
Help help would be appreciated.

Whats a g710?
Does this device support the security modes that you set up on the 600? Subnet is different from LAN ip address, 192.168 is a LAN IP address pool string. Subnet mask should be at 255.255.255.254 or 192.
