Newer version of the beta 2.02b1 up today with a few updates.
-
??? Why the same release number? And where is it, can't find it at ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Multimedia/dns320/Beta/Firmware/

ECF,
I would like to make a little suggestion or 2 about the way you have released or re-released this latest beta. It would be really a lot more helpful to those of us who purchased the DNS-320 in good faith, if when releasing a "new" beta, that you give it a "new" name. It seems customary in the field, to advance the new item with a progressively new beta number so that even the ungifted can easily understand the difference. It is also customary in my limited experience, to release a little change log which briefly gives the points which were hopefully fixed, improved, enhanced, added, etc.
These things, I would say, are almost "common courtesy". I would hope that you might ponder your current practices after reflecting on this issue as I am 100% certain that the people who bought the DNS-320 would really appreciate this consideration.
Have a great day!

My Bad...working on getting it up today...I was told it was up and checked it today and it was not the correct firmware. Check it again in a few hours it should be correct.

Thanks for the update.
Are the posted release notes updated for this new version?

There's a new file on the FTP server, datestamped 11/11/11 but :
- The file name is still dns320_FW_201_beta
- The file date within the zip dates back to sept 23rd, the day the previous firmware was released.
Can you confirmed this is a new firmware ?

its fixed now

Zip archive is broken. Please reupload...

confirmed zip archive is broken
-
Yup, corrupted file, failed CRC check.
-
I'm confident D-Link will post a working version soon.
Patience ;)

It really begs believe that with the revoked beta and this corrupted upload that we will ever see a working dns320. I don't have mine on anymore as I can't trust it to perform reliably at backing up. I should have returned it within a month but I held out in faith, it seems i was wrong. Im now on a beta that doesn't work (any file over 4GB don't pass crc checks for me) and I am unable to go back to a non beta.
Yep I knew the risks running a beta but it would be nice to revert back to a non beta.
This is my first dlink product and it seems like my last, but don't worry linksys are no better.

The release date on the file you quote in your post is the same month of the original beta firmware 2.02 that was removed from circulation. I advise waiting for the sanctioned updated file on the U.S. FTP site.

D-Link always say "wait, wait, wait".
But they should know that we never get this for free. >:(
-
Its fixed. Just re-posted it and I was able to DL it and unzip ok.
-
Is there a change log to go along with this latest 2.02 firmware? Please post if there is. Thank you.

The release notes listed in the sticky reflect all updates since 2.00, the last official release.

Hi,
just to bring up some good news.
The 2.02b01 works like a charm (for me ;-)
Time Machine and AFP issues are resolved.
Works fine with Lion now!
Unfortunately I have no file bigger than 4GB to say that this bug of the previous firmware was resolved too.
Have a nice sunday

I have to say this release of a second version of the software with the same name is really amateurish. How difficult would it have been to call it 2.02b2?
Also, after the update the only way to access the P2P folder seems through the web based file manager.
In the previous version you could access the P2P folder on the drive, or you could mount it explicitly through the Explorer. Now it's nowhere to be seen.

I'm glad to see there's now a firmware version that allegedly supports Time Machine on OS X Lion as this was what I originally bought my DNS-320 to do. I've had to continue using my (failing) WD My Book Firewire drive for Time Machine while waiting for the firmware update to come.
However, I'm extremely reluctant to install this firmware at present for a few reasons:
- As noted by others, the firmware file's date modified is 23rd September which appears to be the same modified date as the previously withdrawn beta version, which also shares the same version number. How can I be confident I have the right one?
- I have seen no SHA-1 hash of the file to verify that I have downloaded it correctly. It's conventional to supply this information alongside the download link or in a text file on the FTP server.
- While I understand that this is beta software and there will be some risks associated with it, no indication has been given of how much testing has been done on this firmware version prior to its release. To what extent are users installing this firmware guinea pigs?
- I haven't seen any estimated schedule for the final release version of the 2.02 firmware. Do D-Link have any estimates they can share? I need to know this so I can make a decision on whether to install this version or wait for the release version.
- The ZIP file I downloaded contained one file - called "DLINK_DNS320.2.02b01(2.08.0923.2011)(BETA)". Presumably this is the firmware binary. There were no other files in the ZIP file and the difference in size between the compressed and uncompressed files is 26KB - less than 0.1% of the file's size. I'm curious as to what the point was in ZIPping it?
I'd appreciate answers to the above points so I can have some confidence installing the firmware in the knowledge that I won't lose data or brick my device.
Thanks.

Yeah, not good .... >:(
