Binary compare shows no differences from latest beta. So did they just rename beta to release?

Checked it Out... No news... even the firmware date stays on 23rd of september. CIFS problem not fixed.. Works fine opn Windows 7 but not from Linux based madiaplayers etc. and most important.. those programmers at D-link still didn't find a way to go back to 2.00 ...

pfffff... any coders here that could explain the coders at d-link what's not working ???

I think i will RMA my device since the software from d-link ****s up... maybe i should have given more money for a NAS .. f.i a QNAP..... What a ****ty product this is starting out to be.. on 2.00 things WORKED... now i have a unit that can't share anything... should have stayed on external harddrives as far as i'm concerened... Anybody else who feels " ****ed by D-Link" ???

Works  fine with me.

Pfff. very constructive "works for me"... apperantly it doen's work for a lot of users who all want to go back... try a zyxel dma-2500 to browse the filesystem and you will see that it doesn't gain acces anymore where that would work on 2.00 firmware...

Worked for me also... but not anymore... no way of going back... these programmers at d-link must be the worse i've seen in 20 years of profession in the IT

Works fine for me ...... tells me more about you that about the product....

The new FW seems to hide my P2P folder. I can see and access it from within the 320's web interface, but not from Windows explorer (Win7). I can rename the folder from the web interface and that makes it visible in Windows (but renders is useless as a P2P folder). How can I make the folder visible from windows?

Same problem with the P2P folder.
I can't even add a torrent anymore.
The table where the downloading torrents are supposed to be listed isn't visible as well. :(
I'm very disappointed :(

OK problem solved :
The Torrent application was disabled => the downloading torrents are back
The P2P isn't a folder of one of the drive anymore but it is another Drive at the root level of DNS-320:
 e.g:
   - \\DLINK-XXX\Volume_X
   - \\DLINK-XXX\p2p

Same problem with iTunes Server.  Still loading "nas"....... :'(  This is very frustrating for me. Between the reasons to buy this equipment was the iTunes Server feature.

Fixed my problem with the Zyxel DMA-2500 not beeing able to browse the shares on the DNS-320. Thanks for the help of Zyxel Tech who coocked a new beta firmware for me within 24 Hrs ....

See D-Link ..... Thats the difference

@Zyxel DMA-2500 users.. If you cannot browse the volumes anymore after upgrading above 2.00 on the DNS-320 ... Drop me a PB and i will help you fix the problem.

Sounds interesting. But that's not what I see. I have my 320 set up with two separate drives. Is that what makes the difference?

Accessing NAS over DynDNS hostname:

400 Bad Request
Cross Site Action detected!

This function was the one of those some, that were operational in firmware 2.00. I did not change anything since operational status. Port forward in router, hostname, etc are just fine! All I changed is firmware update which supposed to fix some issues, and finally I got even more of them

Congratulation. Are you kidding guys? Releasing the same firmware 2.02 third time. Even the date remain the old one: 23/09/2011. I'm still unable to access device over internet. This is just ridiculous

This is a total and utter disgrace!

I would simply like the Ability to "Roll Back" / Downgrade to earlier Firmware. A workaround would be appreciated.

I have Itunes Server issues, Itunes just wont connect and its generally sluggish, something thats wasnt present in V2.00.

Jesruiz -- My P2P folder did not appear until i enabled it and did my first torrent.  It then created a base, subfolders of active and complete.

I have seen the same thing, it is treated as a seperate volume, thus you must copy, not just move the complete stuff to your working files (if you are using UPnP as well).  I was hoping to be able to point my UPnP devices to the P2P so i can access them as soon as done but that is not possible.  You cant use the internal copy software because it cant see the volume of P2P.  Only work around I found was that I use a program called allwaysync and it handles the moves for me automatically.  Sure there are other sync programs to do the same thing.  Only negative to this approach is that a PC must be on to do the move.  Justifying the NAS was suppose to be a power savings by not running my media or torrents from a gaming PC and doing it all from a low powered NAS box.  I sugget either:

1.  Make the P2P "volume/folder" able to be seen from UPnP devices
2.  Put the P2P folder inside volume_X

Edit:  Just realized my concerns are on the wishlist.  Hopefully, DLink has a large enough team on the wishlist.  Seems most of the things fixed thus far were only bugs, not a lot of realy "wishlist" items.  Dlink, please working away at it.

-----------
JavaLawyer or anyone from Dlink...Have you seen or can you share out of our Wishlist what Dlink has found as a priority and is currently working on?  Realistically I am sure they are only going to address a few items at a time for a new firmware rollout.  Any idea of timing for the next firmware beta's????

OK I found out how to do it. I had P2P Settings --> Encryption toggled to 'Enable'. Now it's disabled and I can see the P2P drive.

A few of us have noticed problems with firmware 2.02 and certain media formats not playing through UPnP.  Please see the below thread:

http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42777.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42777.0)

Anyone else noticed this problem and can provide details of what formats dont want to work via the UPnP but work through other methods (not transcoded) getting the exact same files to their media players?

We believe this is a bug with the firmware......

I am from Europe and still waiting for the official v2.02 firmware. Unfortunately it does not arrive... Time machine support is a very important feature for me.

On dlink.com I am reading the following:

"This firmware is engineered for North American products only.
Using this firmware on a device outside of North America will void your warranty and may render the device unusable."

Please tell me if I really am not allowed to install your American v2.02 firmware on a European DNS-320. Are there also any technical reasons?

What country are you from? Did you check the D-Link FTP site for you region?

The D-Link Taiwan download site (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=41487.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=41487.0)) contains a "WW" (worldwide) release of firmware version 2.02.b01, which by all accounts appears to have the same functionality as the official release. Please keep in mind that once you install this version, the firmware will not permit you to regress to an older firmware version. Although labeled as "worldwide" I am unable to state whether this firmware version has any hardware specific dependencies that may negatively impact your particular unit.

I'm from Italy but I have bought my DNS-320 in Germany with German language settings, so I am following the German developments. Are you sure that the v2.02.b01 from the Taiwan D-Link site is the same as your official 2.02? The release date is the 11/11/2011 instead of the 11/23/2011 of the official version. I don't understand: does every country develop it's own firmware? Do you recommend me to wait until the German D-Link offers the 2.02 firmware on his site?

It's always best that you wait for the firmware native to the country where you purchased the unit.

Hi ppplo,

that's very good to hear!! So do you think that if I install the official 2.02 (ftp://ftp.dlink.com//Multimedia/dns320/Firmware/dns320_FW_202) I shouldn't have any problems on my "German" DNS-320?

Do you know if European countries do change something in their local firmware versions in comparision to the official one of dlink.com or if they simply add a language file to the firmware?

Hi vulpesiratus,

I don't work for Dlink, but for me, the hardware is the same... The risk is low, but still have a complete backup before installing the new firmware...

My HDs was almost empty, and I've not lost the data

If you prefer, you can install the 2.0 "official" firmware (not the 2.02 Beta), but I've installed the 2.02

The difference with the 1.0 firmware is important... ;)

Sadly the beta will not install here in the UK, says its not the correct type or version number is wrong and fails.

Really need time machine working on Lion, its been 2 months now with no backup facility which is pretty unacceptable as a photographer. I checked everything software wise would work but sadly I didn't think to check my NAS backup facility would continue. Doh, taught me a valuable lesson.

Not the fault of the individual developers of course.

the release notes which are limited to two lines on d-link's site, don't seem to say whether this addresses anything related to UPNP server not refreshing

any idea if that's on the books to be looked at?

per my other post in the "UPnP Auto Refresh" thread:

I believe I am facing the same issue.

When files (250mb or so) get copied over to an EXISTING folder on my DNS-320 the UPNP server is not identifying to my WD Lives (or other devices like SKIFTA) that the folder has new media in it.

Yet, if i browse the folder VIA Samba, I can clearly access the media.

If i do a manual refresh, all is well, but I shouldn't have to manually refresh.

This seemed to start happening once my UPNP folders began containing a large # of files when i moved over my MP3 files

I have tried contacting D-Link support about this and they are clueless and can't grasp what we are asking.  For now the only workaround I have found is to use the 'Web File Server' within Applications. This will allow you to drag and drop like you would in Windows Explorer and gives you an option to move files rather than copy them.

Jesse

I finally got a response from D-Link support that answers my question bout this.

"Hi
A new FW that resolves this 'issue' will be released shortly, no date though yet."

After reading all the problems people are having with the 2.02 version i don't dare to make the update.
And that's strange since i always update everything i own (from my DSLR to my DVD player), i like having the latest versions :)
Hopefully the next update will be better and then I'll "bite the bullet" and upgrade.

Yes, the best way to do that is to use the Web File Server application, then files and folders are moved instantly.

i have now tried everything, but no matter what i do the p2p wont let me download anything.
before this firmware, it worked like a dream when i should download something, but now it has turned out to be a nightmare.
I really hope that D-Link is fixing this firmware very soon. :'(

I am still waiting for the official v2.02 firmware that resolves time machine issue on the German website of D-link.

Yesterday I tried to install the WW firmware (DNS-320_A1_FW 2.02b01.zip) from http://tsd.dlink.com.tw but the installation did interrupt immediately. The type of my DNS-320 is H/W Ver. A1.

Which v2.02 firmware should be possible to to install on my DNS-320? The file from the ftp.dlink.com site (/Multimedia/dns320/Firmware/dns320_FW_202)? But this one is not the WW version?

I am very disappointed that after a few months oft the v2.02 release the German D-Link was not able to release the new version on its site.

The worldwide version of the DNS-320 firmware is available on the D-Link Taiwan site: D-Link Taiwan Site Downloads (http://tsd.dlink.com.tw/)

Download this file: Firmware:DNS-320 A1 F/W 2.02(for WW)

I tried exactly this file. But a few seconds after beginning the installation I got the message that the file was not valid. I also made the download more than one time. What did I make wrong?

When you try to re-download the file, are you 100% sure the browser is actually downloading the file and not referencing a copy that's already cached on your local PC?

Try clearing your cache first (or download the file with a different browser)? It's possible your browser cached the first bad download, and each time you try to re-download the file the browser may simply copying the bad file from the local cache.

I had a similar issue and the reason was that the file brought down to my PC did not have the .zip extension. Try renaming the file with a .zip extension, and then extract the firmware from the zip file.

You should then be able to update the firware with the extracted file.

Good catch. You are 100% correct. I just examined the file on the D-Link Taiwan site, and the .zip file extension is missing from the download. After downloading, the .zip extension must be manually added and the file extracted prior to uploading onto th DNS-320

Ok, good. Unzipping the file I get the file "DLINK_DNS320.2.02b01(2.08.0923.2011)(BETA)". I will try to upload this. But do I have no problems running this firmware as it is only a BETA version? Is there no WW RELEASE version available?

I believe other forum members performed a comparison between the beta and official release, and the files appear to be identical. The beta seems to have been promoted from "beta" to "official release" status with no additional changes.

Is there any way to stream music and video (not download and play) over the internet?

The only things I can do through ShareCenter are download, copy, move, delete, rename and view properties. There's no way to play them.

It works locally by adding a new network location but I can't seem to find a way to do it when I'm away from my home.

The latest version of AjaXplorer can also stream videos however we're stuck on v 2.7.2.

Is there any way to install AjaXplorer 4.0.1?

I have installed this release, but not all features are working, can some help me.

For example
- To change the name of the "Admin"
- To add user groups
- To appoint a user to a specific folder

Does somebody have a release that works?

The new FW seems to hide my P2P folder. I can see and access it from within the 320's web interface, but not from Windows explorer (Win7). I can rename the folder from the web interface and that makes it visible in Windows (but renders is useless as a P2P folder). How can I make the folder visible from windows?

You need to create a symbolic link. Use this command:
# ln -s P2P/ Torrent

A new folder Torrent will be created, and visible from Windows.

My DNS-320 just arrived but I've been looking the topics for a while and looks that 2.02 is still unstable... do you recommend trying to use it or keep the go with the 2.0 for a while?

Tks

Depends.  There are some bugs created by 2,02 but also some things fixed,  I would not upgrade unless you are experiencing some problem and it is in the fixed list.  For me I did the upgrade because I had too many items I wanted to stream UPNP connection on my network and really wanted them in an alphabetical order.  Also here are some items that were fixed from the moderators accumulation of our wishlist:

General - Ability to modify and view permissions from within the Web Sever [FIXED!]
General - Functional 3TB HDD support [FIXED!]
General - Improve 2TB HDD support [FIXED!]
General - OSX Lion 10.8 Time Machine Support [FIXED!]
P2P - Security - When FTP and P2P are concurrently active, FTP directories are available through P2P [FIXED!]
P2P - Security - Lock access to P2P folder when mapping networked drives to other users on network [FIXED!]
UPnP - Enable file reporting in alphanumeric order [FIXED!]
WebDAV - Provide WebDAV availability [FIXED!]

OK, newbie to the forum and the product. Was going to buy the 320 as a NAS for my macbook pro which runs os 10.6.8. I've also got an ipad2. I have NO experience with setting these things up. Should I avoid, or is there at least support for 10.6.8? thanks and if this has been answered elsewhere a hundred times, I'll fall on my sword!

I downloaded the new 2.02 firmware from dlink.com last night and ran the upgrade and went to bed. I left the upgrade running for 8 hours and this morning I checked my browser and the upgrade was apparently still running. I logged on to my web interface and when I check the current firmware vs it still has 2.00. Any idea why the upgrade didn't work for me? I ran the upgrade from the web interface using the upgrade firmware screen under Sys. Management > Firmware Upgrade.

Thank you,

Mike

Hi all, I just wanted to share some learnings from updating to FW 2.02:

1.  Reset your NAS to the original system config after upgrading - yes, its a pain to redo everything again, but it worked for me.

2.  If you can't seem to get the web interface to work when clicking on the buttons (add torrent, etc) - try to include your NAS ip address in your browser's pop-up blocker list (to allow pop-ups).  It also seem to solve the problem of perpetual "in progress" state when waiting for a process to complete (the completed or error pop-up was stuck...).

Will post more as I work through the functions.  Hope this helps!  ;D

There may be a serious incompatibility between the DNS-320 with 2.02 firmware and EMC Retrospect 7.6 backup software on XP.  As a backup session is completing, the Retrospect integrity check on the Backup Catalog File fails with the reproducible message "Can't compress Catalog File for Backup Set ..., error -651 (chunk checksum didn't match)."  This error message indicates the catalog file is corrupted.  The error message will also result when attempting to rebuild the Catalog File.

This error does not occur on a DNS-320 running 2.0 firmware.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or corruption problem on files larger than 500Mb?

There may be another file corruption problem with 2.02 firmware.  Using Remote Backup from a source DNS-320 firmware version 2.00 to another target DNS-320 firmware rev 2.02 to copy about 600GB, results in failed file integrity tests on the target 2.02 firmware system, while the source is still OK.  The Remote Backup program running on the 2.00 source DNS-320 never indicates a problem.

I had just upgraded to v2.02 from v2.00 and noticed that the P2P folder has now been shared seperately. Previously when access the shared folder from Windows, the P2P folder was part of the Volume_1 shared folder, now it is presented as a different share. Moving files from the P2P folder has now became extremely inconvenient as its taking way too long.

Is there anyway I can make the share back to how it was previously? e.g //dns320/Volume_1/P2P. Or can I even downgrade the firmware.

Another noted is the ability to display more items in the list. There was an drop-down list to select how many items to be displayed, but it has now been limited to 10 items. not very friendly here.

As mentioned above, there is an issue with transferring larger files with 2.02

I just migrated my iTunes library to the NAS, and every song transferred fine, but these files (~300-600MB) copied as 0kb, thus the size mismatch.

Watching these files transfer, the file sizes grew, then went to 0kb upon completion.

As an update, the 2.03 firmware beta on the spanish site did not fix this issue. Journalling seems fine, as FTP uploading does not have this issue. It must be in the SAMBA application.

Thank you for posting your observations. To the rest of the community -- unless you purchased your DNS-320 in the region the v2.03 beta firmware was intended for, please refrain from committing to the new version until a NA or WW version is made available.  ;)
