Hey guys. Just received my dlink 4500 and hooked it up to laptop. Works well so far. My question is this: want to hook it up so my son can play x-box live. I am going to follow the sticky here to do that. First though, his xbox screen states that he needs a wireless adapter. Does it matter what kind I buy? Looking at Trendnet 647; also the cheap ones on ebay. Advice?
Also, what is the difference between the ones that are A/B/G compatible and and N compatable?
thanks

You want one that is N compatible. That is going to make a big difference. Your lucky though, two adapter happen to be on sale.
Trendnet 647 (20$) (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156258&cm_mmc=BF2011_listing-_-31-_-N82E16833156258&nm_mc=BF2011_listing)
Trendnet 687 (60$) (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833156310&cm_mmc=BF2011_listing-_-31-_-N82E16833156310&nm_mc=BF2011_listing)
The main difference between the two is the signal strength and through put on the N band. Since the DGL-4500 Maxes out at 300 anyway, that doesn't matter, but the signal strength does. 647 broadcast N at 11dBm while 687 broadcast at 13dBm. Is 2Bm worth 40$? For me it was, plus the 687 got better reviews, but unless your going to be really far away from the router, the 647 is a great buy at 20$.
On another note, if possible, can you go wired? Wired is always going to be WAAAAAY better then the best wireless connection. Just thought I would mention it if its plausible.

Just ordered the 687. My son's a pretty serious gamer and the reviews on this one were pretty good. Thanks Harry for the price tip at Newegg. :)
