Title: Port 80 problem
Post by: erica on November 28, 2011, 01:48:04 AM
Hi,
I am currently setting a tracker site, and when I try to change the url to my external ip address instead of localhost, but it doesn't work. Then I went to check my ports and I realized that my port 80 is closed.
So I have logged in to the router configuration site and configured it under the virtual server.
The configuration is as below:

After I configured, I still can't acces via the external ip, and the port 80 is still closed.
Hope that you guys may help me in this problem.
Thanks.

Usually port 80 isn't needed in a forwarding or virtual setting as it's a standard port that most Internet data goes thru freely in both directions. Is this the settings that this SW Mfr recommends? You might try Port Forwarding instead of VS.

Also try setting the SPI options to Endpoint Independent first of before setting up any forwarding rules, this might help.

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
