Title: SMART Quick test passes, extended fails
Post by: occam on November 29, 2011, 01:51:02 PM
Hi there,

I have a DNS-321 set up as RAID 1, with two Seagate ST31000333AS 1 TB drives installed.  When I originally set up the NAS, I could run both quick and extended tests successfully.  Sometime within the last few months, something has changed - I can no longer run the extended test on the right drive, it simply goes to 10%, and then aborts after several minutes.

I have popped the drive, hooked it up via USB with the EXT3 driver and am able to successfully read from the drive under Windows.  I can also run SeaTools on the drive, and it passes all tests under Windows.  I put the drive back into the DNS-321, the drive successfully rebuilt, but still won't pass Extended SMART tests.

Anyone know what might be going on?
