Title: Constantly overwriting files via ftp
Post by: sijan on December 03, 2011, 12:48:04 PM
I have scheduled FTP download task of a remote ftp... DNS320 has downloaded about 70gb of files (all of them are less than 1 gb) ... problem occurred when i lose power after 4 days of work and when the power was restored he started to rewrite all files ?

Is there any help ?

I'm assuming here that you used the FTP Download function here: Applications > FTP/HTTP Downloads.
If this is the feature you are using, it looks like the backup functionality does not provide an incremental option, only a full backup. So each executed task will overwrite all files (of the same name) in the destination directory.

u are correct , could u sugest which function should i use ?

i need to download files on regular basis from remote FTP, but to copy ONLY NEW files, also resume broken download will be good to have ... i do not need Syncrinization i just need COPY ALL NEW FILES :)

is there a chance to have this ?

FTP aside, the only way to access incremental backup (as far as I'm aware of) as a pull from the DNS-320 is through the remote backup and local backup functionality. Here are two tutorial links on the ShareCenter FAQ page on this forum:

If you feel incremental backup would be a value-add for the FTP functionality, please post on the DNS-320 - Firmware Wishlist (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=41109.0) thread.  ;)

The remote/local backup are designed to pull files from other locations. I believe the remote backup requires that both the client and server are running RSYNC.
