Title: Red LED on World icon, troubleshooting.... no wireless.
Post by: momobebe on February 19, 2009, 10:51:30 PM
hi, i recently moved and the router worked fine before. Now i have a new modem (COX)  and it seems like the router won't work with wireless. I tried resetting the router for 10 seconds and it has the flashing lights normally when you reset it but the world icon on the router lights up red. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem?

It works with the ports connected to the computer, but wireless is to no avail. If you can help me solve this problem, then many thanks! :)

Try doing a complete power cycle of your modem and router.

-turn off router first then modem
- keep off for about a minute
- turn on modem first only and let it boot for 30 30 seconds
- then power up the router wait 30 seconds

test connection again. Also, what firmware version are you running on the router?

Thanks. I got it to work now.  ;D It was just simple steps of turning off the modem and the router like you said. Thanks very much!
