Title: connection reset while attempting to upload firmware ---> router borked ???
Post by: chaat on February 20, 2009, 08:23:24 PM
I've been having intermittent problems with dns timeouts using firmware 1.21 so I attempted to upload the 1.21_b11_beta02 firmware. During the upload the connection was reset.

now when I get into the dlink configuration page at 192.168.0.1, it is very slow to move to some of the screens and they time out frequently.

I used the reset button to reset my configuration but I can not reload my configuration without timing out or a lost connection. I get the same issue when attempting to upload a firmware.

is there any hope or is this router borked...

I'm a long time user of DLink but I'm getting very tired of these issues. I had a DI-624 that lasted for 4 years until just a few months ago and then I got the DIR655.

I'm hoping that I can somehow get it to upload firmware to get it working again.

                     thanks

I was able to upload the firmware for 121_b11_beta02 successfully. Evidently I had a corrupted version of the download. I deleted the files, downloaded them again and it was successful. I was able to upload my configuration as well.

navigating the Dlink administration screens still seems painfully slow at times. Has anyone had issues with the router not being very responsive on the administrator pages ?

I have all the levels of logging turned on, any idea if it would help to turn off the informational log messages ?

                    thanks

sorry about the rant in the original post. The dns timeouts are getting painful.

I do have the open dns servers but using the 121_b11_beta02 I can't find the DNS relay setting..

                   thanks

What do you perceive as 'slow'? Som items/pages do no pop up immediately (it's not a C2D running on 3 MhZ ;)) but do you consider a 1 sec slow or 10 seconds?
