Title: Add Another DIR 655 Purchaser To The Connection Drop Out List
Post by: therock on February 21, 2009, 04:05:26 PM
Unbelievable!

I have seen the amount of problems listed here for dropouts and am astounded these things are still on the shelves. I wish I had looked here first!

I have the A4 1.20 Firmware and out of the box it goes on and off line like clockwork every minute! When it goes off it stays off as long as it is on. Being in one state or another no more than 3 minutes.

So unless one of these folks working for D-Link on this ist can get me stable it's going back to Office Depot Monday.

Vista 64x
Comcast Aris cable modem.
Realtek onboard Gigabyte P45 motherboard NIC with latest drivers.

Would have been a good thing to investigate first what you were buying. Although on a problem solving forum you will find mostly...problems. Surprising, isn't it  ;D

Anyway, mine is working A-OK.

Upgrade to the latest beta, ftp://ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir655/Firmware and let us know what it does for you.

PS you might want to change the title, it's a bit presumptious.

Heh, Done!

I called it like I felt it.

OK, I went into the firmware section and let it hunt and upload the latest. I am running it now. I'll let you know in a few.

Nope. The 1.21 still drops. I'll do the beta thing now. See you in a few.

If issue continues, get a log on the board and tell us which setting you're using.

Thanks, man.

Eating Crow and Loving It!

The beta has solved it (thanks EddieZ).
Several hours since my last post and not a toggle in the internet connection. NADA! ZILCH!

I love this kind of Crow!

Now, if I can get away with an off topic inquiry, Is there a setting for Jombo frame size or will it recognize the frame size automatically? I am running a synology DS 209+ NAS.

It's automatic on ports 1-4.

Glad it worked!
Indeed, automatic on the wired ports (honours to ttmcmurry  :)) . But beware, Jumbo Frames do not always have a positive effect on speed.

Thanks Guys,

I'm experimenting with the frames now. I'm at 6k now and getting 40Mb/sec averages. 9k went down and from 8 to 6 was not real change. It may get better as I go lower.
