Title: Wireless, extreme lags
Post by: wannaplay on February 23, 2009, 05:29:11 AM
Hi, while playing a game wirelessly i've noticed these extreme lags every minute or so which i don't get over lan. I ran a ping test from the router to a couple of different wireless clients which i've got at home. Everything seemed to be ok but after a couple of minutes or so instead of seeing a ping of 1ms it started  showing a couple of pings of about 30ms together every 30 secs or so, then i noticed something much worse, it did not respond to pings request every so often which was the cause of these extreme lags that i had noticed. Do any other people notice this problem? Is there a solution? what could be causing this?

Hardware Version: A2
Firmware Version: 1.11EU

I'm reluctant to try another firmware version as they're no where near as good as 1.11.

Please try to find out if where the lag originates. Lag can also be generated by the ISP or the server you are connecting to.

Wireless gaming is ****e to have higher latency than wired connections. If there are more wireless users that can also cause lag (BT use, online videos) for your gaming if you have set the WiSH and/or QoS for the gaming ports. First action would be to prioritize the ports and LAN IP's through QoS.

I tested it out with another router provided by my isp and the same thing happens. I actually discovered that my isp's wireless router also had its wireless on, which i thought was off and it was on the same exact channel and they were about 1 minute apart....
