Title: Does enabling SPI affect the perfomance
Post by: Lars-Erik on December 15, 2011, 09:42:32 AM
I notice that SPI is disabled by default on the DIR-600 (in firmware 2.10 and 2.11 as well).
Is there a reason for this?
Port forwarding still works with SPI on (use it for BitTorrent).
So why is it off by default?
Does it slow down things?

SPI is a firewall packet inspection system. Firewall. It can effect some performance however not a lot. It's recommended that it be turn on. You can turn off any 3rd party firewall SW on PCs as router firewalls are very effective in handling network traffic problems SPI sees.
