Title: DIR-628 USB with external 2.5" notebook hard drive
Post by: dir6usb28 on December 17, 2011, 01:16:45 PM
I looked on the forum and my problem is a bit different

Shareport does recognize my printer, but not my HDD that I took from my laptop, put it in a case and plugged it to the USB

I tried Shareport and SX Virtual Link

My current version stays at 1.24N for now though, but I doubt it is the issue

There was some clicking sound at first, then I changed USB wire, now no sound, but the red light is always working like it is transferring

I am planning to buy a proper HDD 3.5 with external case, so there can be a fan for the hard drive, but after all, I bought this DIR-628 from the 601 because of the USB, and I paid a bit extra for that of course, and I find it ridiculous that I am now looking for a Network Attached Storage now ... ?

Maybe some sort of incompatibility with the CASE and the USB or a driver standardization issue between the two. If the printer works and the HDD case doesn't, I would presume the case probably is the point of interest.
