I use my macbook w/mac osx 10.5 for everything. I can access the DNS-321 software and all via my mac. The only thing that does not work w/ mac is the software that comes with the DNS-321.

Have you not tried it yet?

If you'd want to connect both your PC & Mac at the same time you'd need a router/switch otherwise, when you connect the Mac to the 321 while in the 'Finder', select 'Go', then from the drop down select 'Network', you should see the device listed in the window that opens.

Install a disk in the 321, plug it into your router, and power it on - check the router's attached devices list for the new device, make a note of it's ip address and then enter that in your browser window - log in to the admin page and do what you gotta do.

As far as I am aware the EasySearch utility is required for only one thing - to install the BT client.

Correct the Easy search utility is used to install the BT client and as a simple means to locate the Unit on your network and quick access to Configuring the device or mapping a volume.

after purchasing the dns 321 today, i got home and had set up everything. it was going well until i decided to drag and drop some files. the device takes FOREVER to respond (something similar to that as trying to open a folder with 10k MP3s)

i decided to restart my macbook pro and now the device does not even show up in the network.

is there any easy work around to using this thing?

if not, i'm returning this thing ASAP

EDIT: so it did show up in the network. after about 15 minutes after booting up my mbp. and when it does work, why is it ridiculously slow???? is there any configurations to make this a bit faster

I dunno about you guys but i use a ftp client to connect to it via my macbook to upload to it. Pretty simple if you ask me.

Try google - I don't use a Mac, so I've no personal experience, but I have read of this issue and it seemed to relate to either a tcp/ip or samba setting on the Mac, something that causes the Mac to wait for a response.
