I just bought a dns-321 and 2 1tb Hitachi Drives. I, now like everyone else, am waiting on a firmware update so the drives will work properly with the 321. I have a question and an observation.
First, any time frame on firmware that will allow my drive to work or is it even being worked on?
Second, I can get the drives to be recognised if I take and power on the 321, then after it is booted completely, soft reset the 321. The drives are recognised then. I believe it is a delayed-spin-up issue possibly. But If I power the thing off and back on, they are no longer recognised. I have to do a soft reboot after a power on.
Any time frame, I really need to use this NAS and cant take anything back.
Thanks

Same here. Need to use this drive with this NAS. None of the workarounds in the forums have worked for me.

I just bought my DNS 321 and 2 of the exact same Hitachi 1tb HDD's and have configured the
nas in raid 1 with no problems.

well, I have mine working, but I have to do a soft reboot after every power on. As long as I do that, it works. I am hoping that a new firmware comes out soon as even dlink acknowledges a problem.
Thanks,
MarkS.

Yeah. We are currently looking into this issue with the Deskstar 7K1000.B - Model HDT721010SLA360 hitachi drives. :(

Any update on using the DNS-321 with these drives? Also, do you think it'll be an issue once the drives are recognized to leave the unit on 24-7?

We have resolved the issue in lab testing. It is a drive recognition on startup so if you are currently soft-restarting to get it to recognize the drive you should not have any issues with leaving it on 24/7.

That great to hear, I'll leave it on until the firmware update is released. Thanks for the quick work and response!
