Title: streaming movies from PC to X Box and Blu Ray
Post by: scottboyer on December 27, 2011, 10:43:43 AM
I have a 655 and two TVs. One is connected to my network by a Samsung 5700 Blu Ray player, and the other is connected by x box.  The x box is 20 ft away from my router and the Blue Ray is about 60 away with one wall between.  The x box pulls movies down and plays them no problem, and Blue Ray takes about a minute for loading the moving, will start playing but them pauses several times throughtout the movie showing the loading sign on screen.

My x box shows there are 4 wireless networks in neighbouring houses.

Currently I am running wireless g only,  channel auto scan,
2.4 ghz, WPA Personal,TKIP and AES.

Is my movie issues my because of distance from the router?  I was hoping a gigabit router would have been great for multimedia.

Any ideas???

Ya you should move the BD player closer...with in 20-30 feet at least.

There are few issues in your configuration.  In order to handle both Xbox and Blue Ray player, you have to disable the QoS and priority setting of the dir 655 router to let the router use the MIMO feature.

The Blue Ray player has the distance and internal buffer issues.  The distance causes the receiving signal drop thru the wall, and the Blue Ray player downloading the HD video.  HD video requires faster speed and more buffer size for downloading the Blue Ray HD video.  Instead of auto channel, you should use Channel 1 on the router, because lower frequency band of 2.4GHz can go thru wall better than the higher frequency band of the 2.4Ghz channel 11 of the router.
