Title: DIR 645 and DAP 1522 yes or no
Post by: spawn1980 on December 30, 2011, 09:10:19 PM
I'm trying to figure out if the dir 645 will work perfectly with the DAP 1522. Will I get good signal strength and security.

Is the 645 not adequate to handle your wireless needs? Or you trying to extend the range more? How far are you trying to go?

I haven't bought a 645 yet. But I do have a 1522 and I was just wondering if there both compatible or not. but the main reason fir it is to extend my range from one side of the house to another

I think it should work ok. I know that the newer generation routers have wifi thats supposed to somehow track or adjust the signal in relation to where your at. Not sure if this will effect any compatibility issues by using a DAP or not. I might call DLink and ask.

Let know how it goes.

- Will the DAP-1522 bridge with the DIR-645 (yes, shouldn't be an issue)
- Will the DAP-1522 work as an AP in conjunction with the DIR-645 (yes, assuming the DAP is hardwired to the 645)
- Will the DAP-1522 work as a repeater (no, doesn't have this function)

In terms of extending the range of your network the DAP-1522 can be used as a bridge however the range may be limited to an extent. With wireless communication both devices need adequate strength and gain to both send and receive.

In a medium sized home the DAP-1522 with the DIR-645 it should be fine however, there is almost a definite chance that the throughput and signal strength would be better with the DIR-645 with a DAP-1525 in bridge mode since both use smartbeam.
