Title: Volume full alert (when it's not full)?
Post by: blairblends on January 02, 2012, 02:04:36 AM
I've just upgraded from 1.03 to 1.04, and I'm experiencing the weirdness where the OLED and e-mail alerts and log all indicate my volume is full, even though it's not really anywhere close to that.

Is there something I can do to have it re-evaluate that or find out why it thinks this?

From the status page:

Volume Name: Volume_1
Volume Type: RAID 5
Sync Time Remaining: Completed
Total Hard Drive Capacity: 2,945,578 MB
Used Space: 2,679,144 MB
Unused Space: 266,434 MB

The DNS-343 indicates that the volume is full when the used space exceeds 90% of the total usable HDD space. Looking at the numbers in your post, it looks like you just recently just exceeded the 90% mark.

Used Space: 2,679,144 MB = 90.0553%
Unused Space: 266,434 MB =  9.9447%

I pushed for D-Link to include an option to shut off the "Disk Is Full" error from the OLED display, and they subsequently included that option in the firmware: MAINTENANCE > OLED Display > Do not notify me when "Disk Is Full"

Unfortunately, this functionality never quite panned out. Selecting and saving the "Do Not notify me..." message on the OLED never permanently removed the message.

Oh, okay, good to know.  I thought the unit was freaking out on me.

Thanks for the information.  :)

I find that fixes % very annoying myself. 10% may be fine for small capacity HDDs, but when you scale up to 2TB HDDs, 10% of 2TB is 200 GB, which is far from running low on space.
