I have a marconi modem that presents 2 internet ports.
I have my DIR-825 (connected with PPPOE) connected to the marconi and all my devices like PC, Laptop, Boxeebox connect to the LAN using the DIR-825 gateway for internet services.
I also have an i3 settop box that connects direct to the marconi and receives video streams.
If I use VLC on my laptop on the LAN the video streams dont work.
If I direct connect my laptop to the marconi (no pppoe), VLC works fine.
If I establish the the UDP stream first on the laptop, then do a direct PPPOE connection from the laptop, both work.
If I do the PPPOE connection first then the UDP stream, the stream wont work.
I have played arround with the route tables and firewall settings, but cant get the laptop to work on the LAN with VLC.
Would really appreciate some help..

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
Some things to try:
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section.
Turn off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP.

How about enable uPnP and Multicast Streaming Under Advanced/Networking?
Maybe someone can review your router settings with you using teamviewer. (http://www.teamviewer.com)

Before we proceed, what is this UDP/RTP video stream your referring to? This a special kind of application or something?

Its a subscribed video stream called TransTV.
The modem gateway is 192.168.0.1, my DIR-825 router(PPPOE) gateway is 192.168.0.2
When I try and connect to it behind the router with VLC it shows;
IGMP Multicast memberships
Multicast Group Address
239.192.0.7
239.192.152.143
239.255.0.1
239.255.255.250
239.192.0.7:8208 is the address for a FTA local channel.
I think the problem is related to correct routing, it tries to use the PPPOE interface which wont work.
I tried route 239.193.0.0 MASK 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1 to relove this but I couldn't get it to work.

Is the modem is bridged mode and the 825 set up for PPPoE? Seems like a possible NAT issue here with your modem having a router and the 825 being a router as well.

I'm really not sure what the modem actually does. The only thing I can think of is provide a mac address with a signature to identify my end point.
But im pretty sure the promlem is the behind the router I cant get to 192.168.0.1 gateway.
I dont know how to configure the modem, or if that is even possible.
One option I was thinking of was to plug the modem into the LAN directly and then filter out everything other than the UDP traffic.

Whats the make and model of the ISP Modem?
You may need to contact the ISP service and ask them if you can bridge the modem and then setup PPPoE using the acct information, user name and pw on the 825 router under Setup/Internet/Manual/Connection Type.
I would also contact the application Mfr and see if there is any specific setup process, ports or anything need to use this application, tell them your ISP modem and router setup if you can.

I see what your saying, if I could bridge the the two gateways.
When I use the router, it just doesnt route the traffic though to the 192.168.0.1 gateway, it uses the PPPPOE gateway 192.168.0.2 only.
So if iplugged the modem into the WAN port and the lan port, can I filter out the extra LAN traffic so it is relatively secure still?

No, you can use the 825 as an access point however any filtering and security options used by the 825 will not be available. Any security will be handled by your modems router and options if any. Isp hardware has some features however external hardware like the 825 has better features.
