Title: Crashed the firmware while upgrading
Post by: hari on January 07, 2012, 10:41:13 PM
Hi  all
I need to recover my DNS-232 which was crashed while upgrading the firmware and in the middle of the process accidentally power was off. After the incident the device is not responding. How to recover or reflash the firmware? Thanks all

hari

Have you tried using the Reset Button?  Insert a wire or end of a paper clip into the hole between the power  receptacle and the ethernet port and hold it in for about 5 seconds.  More information is in the User Manual.

If that doesn't work, it could be extremely difficult, near impossible to recover. You may have to set up a TFTP server or hardwire a JTAG port.

If the Reset Button does not work, the data on the disks should still be good.  You may want to consider purchasing a used DNS-323 on eBay and move the disks.  If you decide to make the move to the DNS-325, which will be supported with new firmware in the future, make sure the disks can be transferred between machines.

I posted a data recovery thread on the following sticky post: DNS-323 - Data Recovery (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=41395.0)
