As I know A1 and A2 use Vitesse VSC7385XYV (http://www.xbitlabs.com/images/other/dlink-dir655/mainboard_top.jpg). A3 and A4 use Realtek 8366 and it seems to be SR, so do DGL-4500 (http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/30219/187/1/7/) and DIR-855.
Although these green features do not cause so much power saving actually(several measurements on other brands are taken), i still want to know why A1 and A2 cannot get the certificate.
Can't it be done by "Software update"?

Probably:
A. the certificate is just a marketing thing (like you said:"these green features do not cause so much power saving actually")
B. those revisions are simply not sold anymore (unless there's someone with stock)
