Title: DNS-325 Permission Issues
Post by: mark1900 on January 11, 2012, 12:21:16 PM
I am have numerous permission issues of shared folders with my DNS-325.

Issue Summary:

Folders are missing.  Files are missing.  Some files can be overwritten, while some cannot. etc etc.

There is a disconnect between:
ShareCenter -> Web File Server -> Volume_1 -> share -> .... -> some folder

And when I attach the NAS to my Windows 7 or iMac Snow Leopard to a network share.

================================================
Configuration
================================================

My ShareCenter -> Management -> Network Shares include the following.

Share Name | Path
Volume_1 | Volume_1
share | Volume_1/share
iMac_TimeMachine | Volume_1/backup/iMac_TimeMachine
Volume_2 | Volume_2

I have one user:

"user01"

I have one group:

"users"

The shares above are given Read and Write permissions to the "users" group only via "My ShareCenter -> Management -> Network Shares".

=======================================================

I have tried many times to reset permissions via:

My ShareCenter -> Management -> Network Shares

Nothing seems to address this permission mayhem.

Anyone with any ideas?

Is there a way to forcefully reset permissions on a file or folder?  Change the username or group of a folder?  Change the permissions?

I generally find that if I click on a file or folder with the Web File Server that the property values are blank.

ShareCenter -> Web File Server -> Volume_1 -> share01 -> folder  -> Right Click -> Properties
