Title: Maybe going to change out my dgl4500... any suggestions
Post by: buffalosolja42 on January 20, 2012, 03:50:13 PM
I am looking at the new dir series particularly the 857 and 827 does anyone have these?  Or does anyone have a good upgrade for my 4500 looking for better range and dual bands..  Thanks in advanced.

I enjoy the DIR-825 alot. Very zippy. I'm currently using the 4500 as an AP.

The 857 hasn't been released yet. It's a 900Mbs wireless router, it competes with other 900Mb wireless routers. Means you have to have wireless adapters that support those connection speeds too. This is not file xfer speeds either.

I plan on purchasing the D-Link DIR-857 when it's released to replace my D-Link DGL-4500.  I then plan to use the D-Link DGL-4500 as an access point, replacing a POS Netgear WNDR3700 that won't stay connected to my home network as my current access point.

Hopefully, it's soon that D-Link releases the 857.  I'm checking NewEgg daily!   :)

I am using it as an access point from the 4500. It doesn't seem to want to stay connected to my home network. It will drop the wireless connection, however it will show my home network as an available connection.

What did you ever get to replace your 4500? Just curious. If your still around.
