I play my xbox 360 wired threw my DIR-655 router and when I play online I notice on most games that my nat is strict. Does anyone know how I can change my nat on my router.

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
Some things to try:
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section.
Turn off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall.
Review the Gaming, QoS and Game Fuel sticky for XBL.

I have DSL, my modem is a 2wire gateway 2701HG-G with built in router.
-
eeeeeh, ya. Been some problems using 2wire DSL modems and external routers.
Some of them can't be bridged. I would ask the ISP if it can. If not, does the modem have DMZ? ???
-
i will contact my ISP to find out
-
Let us know, if it can't be, and if it has a DMZ, put the 655 router it gets from the Modem in it's DMZ. You might have to change the 655 routers IP address from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1. Keep us posted.

ok I talked to tech support from my ISP and found out they are idiots and don't know anything, So I went on the 2wire support page figured out how to get on to the modem/router and shut the wireless off. I forgot to mention that I also have a VoIP gateway which is a D-link DVG-1120 would that be something that could be restricting my nat also?
-
It depends on where that VoIP device is...it's posible.
Preferred connection of devices would be like this:
ISP modem> Router><VoIP devices and xbox connected to the router.
Were you able to bridge the 2Wire?
Does the 2wire modem have a DMZ?
-
My set up is as follows ISP modem>VoIP>Router and xbox connected to router. I wasn't able to bridge the 2wire and cannot seem now to get onto it either. The game developer Infinity Ward had this info:
NAT CONFIGURATION
Log into your router and turn on UPnP (Universal Plug and Play), most routers have this option in the Administration tab.
The goal is to have an OPEN NAT in order to host Spec Ops games and get a wider selection of MP matches to join.
Also ensure that under your security options that Anonymous NAT Redirection is allowed and is not filtered. This may also be referred to as 'Filter InternetNAT Redirection' - in which case you want this disabled.

Ya you need to run Modem>655>VoIP
>Xbox
What IP address do you see on the 655 routers Status/Device Info/Wan section? 192.168.0.# or ##.###.###.###?
Does the 2wire have a DMZ? if so then you can put the 655 IP address it gets from the modem in it's DMZ then you'll and everything going to the 655.
You could try this if you need to: Modem>network switch><VoIP
><655<xbox.
Maybe someone can review your router and modem settings with you using teamviewer. (http://www.teamviewer.com)

That worked I switched the VoIP around with the router started the game and now my Nat is open. Thank you very much for the time and patience working with me to solve my problem.

Awesome man. Glad it's working. Enjoy.
