Title: SharePort on Linux?
Post by: craig on March 08, 2009, 01:43:08 AM
Will shareport be supported on Linux in the future? Are there ways to make it work now?

As long as there's no MAC-version, I wouldn't bet on a Linux version.
I thought Linux guys wouldn't even look at a non-linux router  ;)

Other ways to make it work?
- decompile the Shareport win32 exe and drivers
- port to linux executables

Good luck

Shareport is closed and proprietary, even if we had a client it would be a cause of Kernel taint, which ain't cool.

Develop and publish an open protocol to run on the router and then the FOSS community can develop their own client.

Seems simple to me.  Alas, it is most likely a pipe dream.
