Can someone, in plain english, give me a run down on how to configure my brother hl-2040 printer through the DNS-320 on a mac (10.6.8).
I assume the protocol is LPD, so now i have the following fields:
Address
Queue
Name
Location
Print Using.
The IP of my NAS is 192.168.1.13, i have a CUPS drive for the device on my mac. i can print without issue on my Windows 7 machine. I had the printer run through a netgear print server without issue prior to getting the DNS and getting around to plugging the printer into it.
thanks

Forgot to mention that I've updated to the latest FW already.

for others reference, here is the solution:
Print & Fax
Add printer ("+" button)
advanced
type=windows
device=another device
url= smb://192.168.1.13/lp
name doesnt matter, i put in 192.168.1.13
location doesnt matter
print using - i picked my hl-2040 cups driver
add
success.
i figured this out while on the phone with a clueless dlink "tech support" person for 30 minutes while she kept putting me on hold for 7 minute stretches.....

Hi, I have the same problem, but how you authenticated yourself? It doesn't work.
At least in my environment.

And one more. Have you tried to use printing on iPad?

iPad uses different (driverless) printing protocol - AirPrint. You will need to set up AirPrint server somewhere in your network that will route the jobs to network printer.
One solution is described here:
http://tweaks.com/windows/46495/enable-ios-airprint-support-on-windows/ (http://tweaks.com/windows/46495/enable-ios-airprint-support-on-windows/)
For Mac there is this solution:
http://www.netputing.com/handyprint/ (http://www.netputing.com/handyprint/)
It can share any printer visible to hosting Mac (local or network) to any AirPlay device. Tried & tested.
