I am trying to just set the 625 up. I had it running behind a EBR 2310 due to my wife wanting wireless internet. Anyway, the EBR-2310 died and now I want to use the DIR-625 as the main/only router. I have reset the 625 several times but I Still cannot connect through to the internet. It doesn't matter if I use the hardwire access through port 1 or a laptop with a wireless card, no internet! I am stumped and ready to Invest in Another router!
The Status Page shows:
Connection Type: DHCP Client
QoS Engine: Active
Cable Status: Connected
Network Status: Established
a Mac Address
a IP Address
etc...
Also when I view the Log here is what I See:
Blocked Incoming ICMP Packet(ICMP type 8) from 192.168.0.1 to 99.29.28.139
Blocked incoming ICMP error message (ICMP type 3) from 204.60.4.193 to 99.29.28....
This is the C2 Version, FW Ver 3.04
Can anyone offer a suggestion?
I am using SBC/AT&T as a DSL IP
Thanks!

What kind of modem do you have? Please list the model. Do you know what your WAN IP is? (Public or private) Most of the time with DSL customers your WAN IP may be private and if this is the case (double NAT'ing) you will have to contact your service provider and have them bridge your modem so you can use your router.

Hi, Thanks for the help. The Modem is a Speedstream 4100.
-
If you log into the router and go to the status page what is the IP address listed in the WAN section?
You don't have to list the whole address just the first octet.
-
That would be the 99.29...

Open up a command prompt and try to ping 4.2.2.2 and then ping google.com
What are the results from the pings?
-
Ping 4.2.2.2
Results:
Reply x 4 bytes: 32 Time: 16ms TTL: 54
packet sent 4, received 4, lost 0
approx roundtrip time 16ms
ping google.com
Results:
ping request could not find host google.com
please check the name and try again
tried this x 2 same result

I think when you had it running behind the EBR router your DIR router acts as a DHCP client and is set to Dynamic DHCP while your EBR is set to PPPoE, since youre no longer using the EBR you need to set your DIR to PPPoE connection with the username and password from your ISP. hope it helps :)
-
I did try it with the PPoE setting but it would not stay connected. I can click on the connect button and then after several seconds it disconnects.

Log into your router and go to SETUP > INTERNET > Manual Internet Connection Setup Whatever your Internet Connection is, enter in a primary and secondary DNS server. (e.g. 4.2.2.2 & 4.2.2.3) Save Settings.
-
What does these changes do? Security is a priority.
Thanks, Kevin

DNS is so you can resolve hostnames into IP address. Which is why I had you ping 4.2.2.2 (successful) ping google.com (failed)
if you enter in DNS servers in the router you should be able to resolve host names and ping google.com and better yet get online ;)
