when connecting my new wireless printer to my network prints out a sheet that shows a successful setup and includes my router info. However, it comes up as not connected on the printers' screen. Is there a setting that I have to activate in my router to allow a network printer? The mac address for the printer shows up as a wireless client but the ip address shows unknown.

Is this printer a wired or wireless printer?

it is wireless.... Forgot to mention that.

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N?
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Turn off Short GI, WLAN Partiton and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.

Lets try Single mode G or Mixed G and N and change from WEP to WPA and try TPIK only first then try Auto TPIK and AES. Input a simple password at the bottom that you can remember easily.
You should be able to see the SSID name on the printers networking for available networks to connect too. I would change the SSID name of the WiFi on the router to something fun and simple too so you can easily identify that. Might be other dlink SSIDs around. ::)

You are a lifesaver, it seems to be working because now the printer is downloading an update. If I run I into any other issues I will let you know... Thanks

Enjoy. Might save the routers configuration to file so if you do a factory reset of the router, you can just reload it and you'll be up and running. Under Tools/System.
Enjoy.
