Title: Can't Create Volume?
Post by: bgtees on March 11, 2009, 08:51:47 AM
Just picked up the DNS-321.  First thing I did was update the firmware.  Then I put it one WD "Green" 1TB drive in the right-hand slot.  I formatted it using the "Standard (Individual Disks)" option.  It seems to format the drive (gets past the 94% hurdle some people mentioned), but there is nothing under the Volume name.  I can't map the drive using the Easy Search Utility b/c there is Volume Name to highlight.  Any ideas?

I also had this problem but with 2 1.5tb seagate drives.  Go to dlinks site and download the 1.01 firmware and you will see that you most likely never had a problem, the progress count was just always wrong.  Originally the progress would immediately shoot up to 94% and never go further.  If you waited long enough it would have eventually finished but with the new firmware the progress was measured accurately.

Here is the link to the page with the firmware.

If however you already have the update, then I suppose I just wasted your time by having you read this.  Hopefully this will do the trick though.

Well, I reformatted (again) and the third time was indeed the charm, this time it came up with the volume name.  Copying over 350GB of tv shows right now.
