DNS-320 does not use transmission by default. It uses another torrent client so can't comment on this. I can confirm the client shipped is pretty basic though.
The following details how to install transmission if that's what you want to install. One of the posters in there may be able to answer any questions you may have.

The default web access is not really that responsive under heavy load (multiple running torrent) which is why there are 3rd GUI clients. Transmission Remote GUI (http://code.google.com/p/transmisson-remote-gui/) is pretty quick and the interface look a bit like uTorrent. The next client I like is Transmission Remote Dotnet (http://code.google.com/p/transmission-remote-dotnet/).

I can confirm that installing Transmission is the best thing you can do for your DNS-320.
I was ready to RMA my DNS-320 cause it was a total pain in the *ss to deal with, especially with the built in torrent-client. I have zero knowledge when it comes to Linux and networks so I was afraid to tryout installing transmission... Should have known better... Took me a few hours to install, however it made torrenting a totally new experience, especially with the Transmission Remote GUI . I definitely recommend it !
