Ive been trying to set a password for my wireless router for a while now but every time i set a password the internet stops working, how do i fix this?
-
Can't get internet on a wired connection after you change the PW on the Wifi for the router?
Have you reconnected to the SSID and input the new Password?
-
wait so i cant connect through a wire at all if i change the password??
-
No, you can connect to the routers web page and log in to make any changes to the router as well.
Can you connect to the router using a wired connection with a PC?
-
no thats the problem, when i set a password i cant connect to the internet at all. its so annoying people are stealing my internet and hiking up my bandwith :(

can someone please help me here? i dont understand how it can be so complicated to put a password on a router.

Need to log into the routers web page and set up the WiFi password and SSID name under Setup/Wireless/Manual. Use WPA or WPA2 and Auto TPIK and AES. Then enter in a Password for the wiireless security. Save the settings.
Then go to Tools/Admin and enter in a Password for the Admin log in. Make the Password different from the wireless password. Save settings and you should be safe.
