Title: DCS-2130 text settings explanation ,please
Post by: curmar on February 17, 2012, 01:53:53 PM
I was having a look at the backuped settings of the 2130.
My attention was attracted by the motion detection lines

Can anybody explain me the meaning of the following lines highlighted in bold:

motion_config_motionenable=1
motion_config_motioncenable=0
motion_config_motion_draw_enable=0
motion_config_motionlevel=2

motion_config_motioncvalue=100
motion_config_motionpercentage=1
motion_config_motionblock=00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
motion_config_motionregion0=0000000000000000
motion_config_motionregion1=0000000000000000
motion_config_motionregion2=0000000000000000
motion_config_motionregion3=0000000000000000
motion_config_motionregion4=0000000000000000
motion_config_motionregion5=0000000000000000
motion_config_motionregion6=0000000000000000
motion_config_motionregion7=0000000000000000
motion_config_motionregion8=0000000000000000
motion_config_motionregion9=0000000000000000
motion_config_motionsentable0=1088
motion_config_motionsentable1=896
motion_config_motionsentable2=704
motion_config_motionsentable3=512
motion_config_motionsentable4=320

mmm, just doing some tests I found that the following setting string motion_config_motionblock if left on the default value (that long serie of zeroes) makes the cam not detect motion.
As soon as I set it to value to 1 the motion detection icon on the live video page starts blinking and the camera saves the movies via ftp.

The weird thing is that with theese motion settings:
Sensitivity= 40%
Percentage=20%

the camera detects motion without any particular event happening. But If I try to pass into the controlled area I'm not detected and therefore recorded.!!

some few updated news:

I've had no success in motion detection working as it should.
Every setting I try to use the camera does not behave as it should.

I've tried many combination of Sensitivity/percentage without satisfaction. There should be something I'm not considering.

Few more notes, I've tried SecuritySpy (surveillance software for OS X) and found that the DCS-2130 can be handled by selecting the DCS-3410 model. BUT, the audio is not supported and make the app crash.

Had to tinker a while before I realized that in order to record on motion I had to set up not only the motion sensitivity, but also the event and media (plus server for network storage). Now I'm able to record still shots and video on motion simultaneously, on the network, just like I wanted.
