Title: Hard Drive Has Failed, replace with new hard drive
Post by: anerz on February 20, 2012, 12:32:46 PM
I have received mail from my dns 323 for a failed hard drive.
The current setup consists of 2 WD 1.5TB drives(WD15EADS) in RAID1. running firmware version 1.7.

I can not find the same disk online and considering whether I should buy a 2TB hard drive for replacement.
I am aware that I only get 1.5 TB storage capacity because I will mix 1,5TB with 2TB hard drive inn Raid1

But can I insert a WD20EARX into the dns-323 box now or do I first have to upgrade firmwire?
Are confused by re ading the various forum threads on the Web so hoping for some help here.

In fact you will get the full 2 TB storage, 1.5 TB as RAID 1 with the remainder available as Volume_2.

It would be advisable to update the firmware, if only to be sure of correct formatting.
