Title: camera motion detect vs software detect

I have some DSC-2100, which have their own motion detection settings.  The D-viewcam software has motion detection settings for the recording scheduler.  Is there a way to use the detection settings on the camera instead of in the software, in hopes of decreasing CPU load on the recording system?
