Title: syslog configuration
Post by: Another Joe on March 04, 2012, 07:37:20 AM
I'm trying to set up the syslog on my DIR 655 using the Synology DS212J NAS. What settings I need beside enabling and pointing the syslog on the router to the NAS ip address? The syslog in the NAS is enabled also and using port 514. However, I'm not getting any logs in the NAS.

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

I would ensure reserved IP addresses are set up ON the router for the devices.

All IPs are currently reserved in the router.

Are you getting logs from the 655?

Yes, I'm getting logs under the status>logs page.

I would look at the configuration of the Synology...

I changed the transfer protocol in the Synology from TCP to UDP and now I'm getting logs.

Next step is figuring out what those mean, like 'busy environment detected'.....
