I have seen several posts regarding internet connection dropping. Mine does the same.
I have a cable modem in front of the router. The router is setup with two SSID's (one 2.4GHz, and the other 5GHz). So often the connectivity to ENET drops, forcing me to power cycle the router. Other then the two SSID's, the router setup is factory default.
I need to debug this. I have noriced that the DNS IP addresses do not show up under setup. Where do I start?

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under router.
What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on routers web page under status.
What region are you located?
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router?
What ISP Modem make and model do you have?
If this modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems.
I would contact your ISP service and ask them to help you bridge the modem. If the modem can't be bridged then I would use the DMZ feature of the modem and input the IP address that the router gets from the Modem on put that in the modems DMZ.
Some things to try:
Ensure DNS IP addresses are being filled in under Setup/Internet/Manual? You can find these under Status/Device Info/Wan section.
Turn off ALL QoS (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options. Advanced/QoS or Gamefuel.
Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual.
Turn on DNS Relay under Setup/Networking.
Setup DHCP reserved IP addresses for all devices on the router. Setup/Networking
Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall if you have this option.
What wireless modes are you using?
Try single mode G or mixed G and N on 2.4Ghz and Single mode N on 5Ghz?
What security mode are you using? Preferred security is WPA-Personal. WPA2/Auto TPIK and AES.
What wireless devices do you have connected?
Any cordless house phones?
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Use InSSIDer (http://www.metageek.net/) to find out.
Turn off Short GI, WLAN Partiton and Extra Wireless Protection if you have it. Under Advanced/Advanced Wireless.
Turn off all anti virus and firewall programs on PC while testing. 3rd party firewalls are not generally needed when using routers as they are effective on blocking malicious inbound traffic.
Turn off all devices accept for one wired PC while testing.
Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. I recommend CAT6 and the shorter the better if possible. I use a 1 footer. Swap cable between modem and router. Sometimes these in box cables are not made well.

Here is the info:
The cable modem is a standalone modem (Cable as WAN, and one RJ45). It is a bridge. It is connected to the router by 2 feet CAT6 cable.
The setup behind the router is as follows:
3 iPhones
1 iPad
2 MACs - Wifi connections
1 PC - Wifi connection
1 Printer - Wifi connection
DirecTV WHole Home (MOCA network) - COAX bridged to one of the ENET ports of the router
I did a couple things which I think improved the situation:
1- I turnned off the 5GHz radio, and set 2.4GHz to b/g/n (the only option that was available).
2- I checked all the items in your email and set them up the way you explained (the ones I have).
3- I completely disconnected all clients, and one by one brought them on line. Every time one was brought on line, I checked that IP address showed up and put it under DHCP reservation.
Things are working properly and I see all clients. So far no dropage (4 hours).
I have a question:
My DirecTV Whole home (MOCA) consists of one main PVR and three thin clients. The COAX network is connected to the back of router via a COAX-to-ENET bridge. The IP address of the main PVR box shows on the router's DHCP list and is reserved (192.168.0.xxx) . I see that the other three settop boxes have 192.168.0.yyy addresses (I assume that they are assigned by the router), but I don't see them on the router menu. Is this correct?

I don't know if the DirecTV clients are assigned from the DLink router or this MOCA device. I would call the Provider and ask them for the details.

I forgot to look at the HW version. I will do that when I get back from trip this week.
Firmware version said Ver 1.0 dated 2010.
I am in Southern California (Orange County). My Cable modem service is with Time Warner.
The setup only provided b/g/n option for 2.4GHz band. I could not change it to G/N or single G or N. Is there a way to do that? What is the advantage? By the way, channel is set to 20MHz.
MOCA is Media Over CoAX. Basically all settops connected to CoAX in the house form a LAN thru the cable (DirecTV calls it Whole Home). One of the devices on the MOCA netwrok will act as the headend (like the headend in cable company that services cable modems in a neighborhood). The SW model is exaclty like ENET, and all transmittions are IP.

Lets confirm the FW version when you get home. If you have never updated the FW on the 825, then it might be time to.
You should be able to set Single mode or Mixed G and N. Doing this helps the router broadcast only those modes that you need. If your not using A or B modes then theres not need to broadcast what your not using.
