I just received my new DNS-321 and was unaware of the Deskstar 7K1000.B not being compatible. I now see it may just be the initial startup because once it is identified it stays there until power down and requires the soft restart.
My main problems now are:
1. Changes to configuration IE. IP address do not stay when powered off.
2. Setting up shares makes drive totally unaccessible on network. Must restore to factory defaults
Here is my main use for this device:
Store music (MP3, WMA, WAV, etc.)
Play the music from a network device that connects to stereo unit. This seems to work fine with DNS-321 default settings. If I setup any other shares this no longer works.
Save scans from my HP-7680 all-in-one. This does not work with default DNS-321 settings. If I add a new share I can get it to work, but the Audio device no longer works.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Wes

What firmware version are you running? Also do your Network Access rules remain in the settings when the unit is rebooted. This is an issue we are looking into with the 1.01 firmware you may want to try the 1.00 firmware is this is what is happening and see if your issues go away for now. We will be having a firmware update to address this issue.

I am running the 1.01 firmware. I will try to change back to the shipped version and see what happens and will let you know. Thank you for the expert followup, it is refreshing to know someone is watching this forum.

No help changing to ver 1.00. :-\ Power down then power up removes all shares. Still will not work with the HP all in one.
I have about 20 days to return unit. Is there any hope of seeing updated firmware that will work?

What if you create the Network access rules and don't power down the unit do they rules work?
