Title: DAP-1522 (RevB): DHCP Server
Post by: kroegerama on March 10, 2012, 03:29:16 AM
Hello,
I think, the device's DHCP server can not be configured as expected.

My plan was to set the following preferences:
DHCP IP Address Range: 192.168.100.1 to 254
Default Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Default Wins: 192.168.0.1
Default DNS: 192.168.0.1

But all I get is the following error message, if I try to save these settings:
The start host id of lease pool should be small than the end host id.

Can anyone explain, what I'm doing wrong?

What happens if you use 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254 instead? Adjust the SubNet Mask accordingly?

I can't use a full IP address in the "to"-field:

Try setting a SNM of 255.255.255.252 on the DAP instead of 255.255.0.0.

Why should I set the SNM to 255.255.255.252? My plan is to have a large net.
With your SNM I can only have 2 clients per Subnet...

Try 255.255.255.0 or 192?

192.168.100.0 is a class C IP address and is normally used with a subnet mask of type 255.255.255.x

254 is max for this IP address and SNM configuration.
