Title: Can't access my NAS even though my router sees it
Post by: tekmox on March 22, 2012, 11:45:25 AM
So I've recently switched my NAS from an old router to a new router.  The weird thing is, after I've connected the NAS to the new router.  I can see it using the easy search utility and I've switched the DHCP to enable so the NAS can pick up a new IP from the router.  Currently, the NAS IP is 192.168.1.45.  My computer's IP is 192.168.1.95 and my gateway is 192.168.1.1.  The router sees the NAS is connected but I can't click I can't access the drive via admin portal (web browser) or looking for the drive in my windows explorer \\192.168.1.45.

What's weird about this is that when I tried change all the settings back to the old router and connect the NAS to the old router, everything worked so I know the NAS is not broken.  Not sure what I can do to resolve this issue.  Any help would be appreciated!  Thanks!

Can you access the admin page from the Easy Search Utility?

One option is to set the new router to use the same network range as the old router.

Personally I've selected a "non-standard" private ip range (within the 192.168.x.y range) as my network address and I set whatever equipment I'm using to work with this range - this means I can change any one piece of equipment without having to reconfigure everything else to work wift it.

Did it get the same IP address when you did that, or a different one?? What subnet mask do you see on the computer?? Are the old and new routers using different subnet masks?? Do you have other devices on the network that might already be using the .45 address??
