DLNA is such a pathetic failure, it never works. Whats wrong with standard Windows network share protocol (SMB? is that what its called?) that is super fast and always reliable? On DLNA with DNS-325 and my PS3 both connected to a 300N Asus router, it takes about 10 SECONDS to open one single picture. Opening Video files take so long that I gave up. Opening Video with WOON app on my iPad takes a very long time over a minute and when it opens it stutters bad so its useless.
With SMB I was able to almost instantly open a large movie file with my old Dell Axim years ago over 11g wifi and watch the whole movie without stutter. Everything fell apart since DLNA and MediaShare, Media Streaming, Media Devices were introduced.

May I suggest you try AirPlay? Works like a charm for me. Ok, I'm on 5GHz wideband 802.11n.

Well, do you speak out of experience, or just dark belief?
And what working alternative can you suggest, please?
As we all can see here, DLNA is not one of them...
