Title: Bad wireless connection
Post by: AllSt4r on March 30, 2012, 07:02:46 PM
Hi, I have a d-link 4500 and currently I have it on the regular settings.  I am in an apartment at college, so there are many other connections around.  Also, we have close to 10 connections to this router.  I couldn't find anything in the forums, but is there a setting that can handle all these connections?  The wireless connections disconnect every 10-15 minutes, but when the computer is connected by lan, it works fine.  Is the reason the router can't handle it just because of so many connections? Thanks for any help!

I wouldn't update FW in this case. IF you have other WiFi near by, specially on 2.4Ghz, probably having WiFi congestion issues and the channels are being all used up and the 4500 is trying to find a clean and open channel. A FW update will not fix this. Keep what you have right now and you best best would be to move what devices you can to 5Ghz. There are adapters that you can get that work on 5Ghz for PCs and Laptops. I would upgrade those devices to this band and use the 5Ghz radio on the 4500 for this.
