Title: Such a noob question: XBox 360 & DNS-323
Post by: ameetj85 on March 19, 2009, 03:19:43 PM
Hi,
I know that some of you are probably going to shake your heads, but here goes my noob question:
How do I configure my XBox 360 to recognise a shared folder on my DNS-323 Volume_1?
Thanks.
Ameet.

You first need to upgrade the firmware to v 1.06 if its not already done.
And after the upgrade do a "reset to defaults" (Located in Tools --> System)

then go the the Advanced Tab then select UPnP AV Server
Enable the server
and select the folder that you want to share

Preferably DO NOT Select Root....

And if you want you can press on the "Refresh" button to force a refresh of the Library list
It should got from 0 to 100 %... if it skips from like 59% to 100%... you might a file thats causing
and issue.. unfortunately there is no way to know which one exactly....

Make sure that all the files and folders that in the Folder that you are sharing does not contain any special character (like "&" )
that the names are not too long (keep the max file path and file name to a combined of 70 chars)

Then you should see the DNS appears as a choose in your
Xbox 360 Video Library (or Music or Picture)
