Hey guys
I am connected with an ISP that's a local fiber network thing, directly from the wall - No modem in-between.
I am playing fine online with decent ping times, browsing lightning fast and downloading files flawlessly.. Until the router decides to cut off my connection entirely.
I lose the connection on my stationary which is cabled, and on my laptops + PS3 which are on wireless.
To get the connection back I have to reboot the router, and then it works flawlessly again! This happens in-between one to several times a day, and it's really frustrating as you probably can imagine.
Is there a way to solve this problem? What info do you need from me?

I have a fiber connection as well and the same problem.
If you log into the router admin pages (192.168.0.1) and click on "Status" you can renew the DHCP lease. That fixes the problem and is quicker than a reboot.
This is extremely annoying and if I cannot figure this out I'm going to return the router as malfunctioning, get my money back and buy something else.

There is no such thing as firmware 4.00.. Can you both please verify what firmware you guys are running?
Try locking down your wan port speed and set up a primary DNS and secondary DNS address to your router.

I had the same problem - it seems that the router sometimes suddenly decides that it wont pass on the DNS req. for the service provider (firmware problem - i think). You have to bypass this function which does not work.
Do this: from the STATUS(Device info) take the DNS IP's which comes dynamic from your ISP. Place the DSN IP's in SETUP/Internet Setup/Manual Internet connection setup/boxes: Primary DNS Address+Secondary DNS Address .
Goto Setup/Lan setup/Un-check box 'Enable DNS Relay' - remember to save all settings every time.
Thats all . (thats work with firmware 4.0) - Hope it helps.

OK.. I'm still confused about the firmware version you guys are posting. I haven't heard of 4.0 on any of the DIR-615.. I could be wrong ???. Can please list the hardware version of the unit and also post a screenshot of the firmware you guys are running?

Hi again - sure firmware 4.0 exists for HW rev. Now it makes sense :o What IP are you getting in the Status page for the WAN section? Public or Private?

I get new DHCP IP's every 0,5 hour (lease 3600 sec.) from my ISP - my contract with my ISP say's I could get the same IP's every time (but they are still dynamic not static).

I second the DNS explanation and I'm also in Denmark.
When the router looses the connection I can still ping by IP address but NSLOOKUP cannot find the DNS server.
The IP-address I get at MyIP.is (my external address): 89.150.112.xxx
Here is the info from Status > Device Info:

Has anybode reported this problem to D-LINK , - that the Relay function sometimes stopped working - maybe the moderator ???

I have now tried the solution you came up with Kimse, I will report back here if it works permanently to my (and apparently other people's) problem! Thanks :)
And yes, I live in Denmark too :)
Edit: I lose the internet connection if I try and do as you mention.. I think the problem could possibly be solved if I got a static IP address from my ISP?

If I copy the DNS server it works fine, but if I untick the Enable DNS relay, i can't connect to the web anymore.

hmm . . . unchecking the "enable DNS Relay" (NO CHECKMARK) and hardcoding the DNS servers under manual setup have worked for me over a week now. - If the relay function is not used, the router will not act as relay-station and pass on DNS req. to the service provider , but instead, the router will just assign your netcard the DNS servers.You can also hardcode the DNS serves in your PC's Netcard properties - it's the same thing. Anyway somebody could report this problem to D-LINK in Denmark.

Do you also hardcode them in Windows/OSX? Or just the router?

No just the router. - But it will also work with just hardcoding the DNS servers to the netcard instead

I have now tested FW 4.10 and it has the same relay problem - it dont work on a permanent basis - the connection suddenly drops out.
so I am back to - NO CHECKMARK in RELAY and hardcoding the DNS servers in MANUAL setup. I have reported back to D-Link Denmark that it doesnt work.
