Title: DCS-932L: no remote access
Post by: michaelmartin on April 06, 2012, 04:55:10 AM
I recently purchased a DCS-932L camera.  My home network uses a Linksys WRT54G router.   Although I can access the camera from all computers within the network by typing in the IP address, it cannot be accessed from outside the network in that manner.  As far as I know, I have done the setup properly.  I assigned the camera a static IP address (with the last number being 151, which is outside 100-149, the range of numbers to which the router can assign an address through DHCP).  Since my ISP blocks forwarding of port 80, I set the camera to port 800 and then, on the router, forwarded port 800 to the camera’s IP address.  Using a port checker, I’ve verified that port 800 is open.  My only firewall is the built in XP firewall, along with the hardware firewall in the router.  I can access the camera remotely through My D-Link, but not by manually entering my IP address followed by “:800.”  I’m ready to return it to the store, as I need access in addition to access provided through My D-Link.   Did I miss something obvious?  Thanks!

Do you have UPnP enabled on your router?

Yes.  At least that's what it says.

I have the exact same problem.

Basically if I try to assign the camera to any other port than 80, the port will not open!  Called D-Link and they are stumped.

I have other makes of IP cam that work perfectly.

My suspicion is that it is something to do with mydlink.  Looking at other posts, it would seem that you can either have mydlink or separate access, but not both.

I will try using port 80 (my ISP does not block it), and try deleting from mydlink to see if it helps...

Maybe you want to try deregistering from mydlink, resetting the camera, and starting again without a mydlink registration...or alternatively maybe just easier to give it back to the store!  ;D

Something is broken in the new fw. Using the same PC, Java, I can access the advanced settings in the camera on the camera with the old fw but the two with the new firmware are not connecting.

Just to follow up, I now have remote access (through both my d-link and through browser).  I don't recall what (if anything) I did that made it work.  But I do know that I have the latest firmware, so I'm not that's the issue.

I have 3 cameras all open to the outside. What I found best to do was to not change the original port 80 of each of the cameras. I realize your ISP will block 80 going in, but not 80 once it's in. So here is my setup, hope it helps.

Camera 1
External Port 1080 > Internal port 80 of the internal IP of camera 1
Camera 2
External Port 1081 > Internal port 80 of the internal IP of camera 2
Camera 3
External Port 1082 > Internal port 80 of the internal IP of camera 3

Make sense?

I have the 942L. Had no remote access via Mydlink homepage. Solution: the Problem was my Avira Internet security - not the firewall but the "web protection" module. Went in to settings and excluded Mydlink's homepage, then everything worked...  :)
