Experts,
My DNS-323 failed a month ago and I bought DNS-325 in a deal couple of days back. Now, can I just take the hard drive from DNS-323 and put it in DNS-325? Does it format the drive or recognize it as drive with data? I just have one drive and want to be careful not to loose any data. Anyway to do this? Also I bought a hard disk docking station thinking that I can transfer data to my Win7 PC, but I'm not able to access it in my PC (it shows the disk in disk manager though). Any suggestion?
Thanks

Hey kumarnvm,
I'm no expert, and unfortunately I can't answer your question. However, from what I've read if you insert a drive from another DNS it will attempt to format it again.
Maybe someone from tech support can comment? Also, maybe tech support can comment on what format the drives are?
I would really try to play it safe and wait for a reply before losing your data.
Best of luck!

Because our NAS is running on Linux, it uses Linux's EXT2 or EXT3 (DNS-325 EXT3 only!).
You need additional tools to access the file system of a Linux drive on Windows:
