Title: External USB Drive
Post by: bohemus on April 10, 2012, 10:18:12 AM
Currently I have a 1TB external USB drive connected to the DNS-320. Its formatted in NTFS and I can read/write to it with no problems. Would I get better performance if I formatted that drive to EXT2 or EXT3 instead?

Possibly not much though. The speed is down to hardware limitations and the spec of the device.

I used Gparted last night and formatted the external drive to EXT3 and the performance went from 9 MB/s to 20 MB/s, similar to the speed I get with the internal drives in the DNS-320. Pretty happy so far.
