I'm posting in the 323 forum as there doesn't seem to be one for the 313 - please forgive me!
I've been trying to sort out a backup of my data HDD onto my DNS313 NAS. Unfortunately there are some files on the NAS which it won't allow to be modified or deleted. If I try to do it through Windows Explorer it tells me I need permission from unix user\root to modify it.
I am logged in to Windows 7 as the administrator, and I've checked through the DNS313 interface that I have full read/write access (only one user set up).
What am I doing wrong? Is there any way to solve it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First off I don't own a 313, only a 323 - so take my comments for what they are worth.
How do you have your NAS configured? (RAID0, RAID1, JBOD, Seperate Volumes,....)?
Do you have any fun_plug's (or third party plugin's installed)?
What did you do just before the files became inaccessible?
Do you have a backup of your data? (This really should be question #1)?
What is your network setup?
Can't offer anything else until we know some of these answers.

Hi, thanks for replying
In answer to your questions
1. DNS 313 is a single bay NAS so there's no RAID or anything like that, just a single 1TB HDD
2. No fun-plug when I was having the problems (although to be totally honest while I've been messing around today I have installed it, though I don't feel I'm getting very far)
3. Yes, data is all safe and sound on my desktop machine. THe NAS is supposed to act as a mirror for my desktop HDD and also to supply the PS3 with media to stream.
4. I hadn't really used the NAS much recently as my network was so slow. I've just installed some 500Mbps homeplugs which should have made it a more useful prospect. I was trying to do some backing up using AllwaySync when I noticed it wouldn't delete/modify some files.
Think that answers most of your questions. Thanks for taking the time.

You could manually change the file permissions with the fun_plug that you have... but that isn't covered in this forum (try - http://dsmg600.info/). Alternatively - you could always reformat and put your data back on the device (although I know this is probably the least favorable option).
Have you reset to factory defaults?

This whole fun_plug thing is a bit confusing if I'm honest. I wouldn't know how to start changing permissions with it.
I've taken the second option and gone for a format and reinstall. Hopefully that will sort things out. Although putting the data back on it could take a while.
Cheers,
