Title: Cameo Communications, INC???
Post by: kargo27 on May 20, 2012, 09:36:24 AM
I'm using inSSIDer and it's listing the Vendor of my beloved 4500 as "Cameo Communications, INC".  WTH is that?

Shouldn't it be listing D-Link?   ??? ??? ???

InSSIDer Picks up the Vendor ID which seems to be Cameo Communications.

Atheros is a specifc Mfr of WiFi chip sets for many OEM Mfrs and is not affiliated with Belkin.

Yup, that looks right.  Interesting.  There is one other Vendor I don't recognize and it's Hon Hai Precision Ind Co. Ltd.

while i used inSSIDer i noticed it would tell you the manufacturer of the wifi chip in the router rather than the selling company of the router.  i seen some devices labeled "Atheros" which i believe is a generic chipset, and wouldn't doubt it from a Belkin device.
