Title: How Do I Upgrade RAID1 w/FFP
Post by: DNS320_User on May 26, 2012, 06:54:02 AM
Hi,

Can anyone help me with a possible approach to replacing my 2x500GB RAID1 w/FFP setup with 2x3TB RAID1 w/FFP? I have FW 2.00 not 2.02.

So far I have thought of:
1. Connecting a [1TB] external drive an doing a copy
2. Backup configuration
3. Upgrade firmware (should I go 2.02 or beta 2.03?)
4. Test everything is there, FFP works, and Twonky works
5. Remove drives, setup 3TB RAID1
6. Copy data from the external [1TB] drive
7. Reboot
8. Test everything is there, FFP works, and Twonky works

My issue is:
1. Do I go 2.02 or beta 2.03 for the 3TB drives?
2. FFP, Do I need to reinstall it or will it activate once the data is copied back over?

Thanks for reading this and if you can help that would be great.

Assuming you don't have a backup then your copying to an external drive is the way forward.

As to the FW issue, that will depend on which FW works with your proposed new drives - maybe JavaLawyer could advise here.

I assume it would be better to reinstall FFP rather than relying on everything be copied - hidden files?

Thanks ivan. I will start my backup tonight, upgrade firmware on the weekend and try out the 3TB drive before ordering a second one.
