Title: Network Shares and PS3
Post by: mpowell24 on May 28, 2012, 05:04:58 PM
Like so many others I am new to using a NAS and have figured out most of my questions on my own and with the help of this forum.  But I can not get it to work with my PS3!  I have the UPnP enabled on my NAS 320 and my folder I want to share designated.  The PS3 does see my NAS but when I click it, it only shows me the three folders: Music, Video, and Photo.  It does not show my network shares that I have created.

Oh well so, so everything is in these folders...not to big of a deal.  So when I click on a video in the folder that is shows, it says that "The data is corrupted".  Not sure why, I have also noticed that the titles look off... they start with _-_ and have an asterisk at the end of the file name.

So have I programmed the NAS wrong or the PS3?

My network is:

Airport extreme Wireless N
Dlink network switch 8 port
Western Digital Powerline used to run my PS3

The NAS and PS3 are both hard wired. And I have a Boxee Box as well that streams just fine from the NAS. I use PS3 media server on my Macbook that works to the PS3.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

Is it possible that I have to many movies in one folder.  I have about 400 movies sitting in one folder alone.  I was just able to stream on movie that was in a folder by itself.  But it looked as if the PS3 had made duplicate of it with the '_-_' in front of the file name.

I've got the same issue, my PS3 will recognise the NAS in the same folder format but wont actually let me view the files inside. I tired renaming the folders on my actual NAS to match the UPnP set up but that didnt work either.
